Shadow Shift UI

For Shadow Shift, I designed a cinematic and immersive user interface (UI) inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2. My goal was to create a UI that felt grounded, natural, and deeply integrated into the game world, while still maintaining clarity and ease of use for the player.

UI Inspiration: Red Dead Redemption 2

  • Minimalist Immersion: Just like RDR2, I kept the HUD elements subtle and non-intrusive, allowing players to stay focused on the environment and narrative.

  • Diegetic Elements: Menus and prompts were designed to feel like part of the world, not overlays. This mirrors RDR2’s approach to immersive realism, where UI supports the story rather than distracting from it.

  • Typography & Layout: I used serif-style fonts and vintage-inspired frames to subtly evoke a classic and grounded atmosphere, much like the stylized elegance of RDR2’s menus and map interface.

  • Color & Tone: A neutral, earthy color palette with smooth transitions and soft shadows was chosen to reflect the slow-burn, atmospheric pacing of the game.

UI Features I Created:

  • Dynamic Main Menu with cinematic camera panning

  • Pause menu with real-time blur and smooth transitions

  • HUD elements for health, stealth, and objectives with fade-in effects

  • Narrative prompts and interactive hints styled like old journal pages
